There are those among the ranks of MMA fandom that do not enjoy the UFC’s attempts to become a truly international brand and try to get in the European marketplace, especially the UFC 122 probabilities competition which will be hosted in Oberhausen Germany on November 13th.
And it’s not that these enthusiasts are anti-European or anti German. It’s simply that the lineup for this German smack down is not the best. As we noticed last month with the UFC 120 competition hosted in London England, planners tend to load the fighting lineup with home grown talent (or at least European talent) in an effort to climb a bigger enthusiast base in the enormous Euro market which has to date declined MMA as a sporting selection.
The UFC 122 wagering competition will offer 3 German competitors and several other European competitors. The only issue with this is that the German MMA scene is comparatively modest and nearly none of German competitors in the UFC 122 probabilities tournament are known outside of their villages or cities and especially not to nearly all of the UFC enthusiasts. So although there are more Germans than typical on the card, they will not be met with more support from enthusiasts.
The sport of MMA has been met with significant criticism in the nation by its media and government. It’s earlier directed to minors being forbidden from the first German UFC competition, UFC 99, and this it year it’s directed to the sport being forbidden from being broadcast entirely. The Germans have determined the “extent of violence shown to be unacceptable” and so the competition will be shown by tape delay on Spike TV here in the u.s., but not at all in the nation it’s in fact being hosted in.
The fact that the Main Card headlining bout in the UFC 122 wagering competition highlights Nate Marquardt and Yushin Okami in a match in which the winner is not even certain a chance at the division championship says a whole lot about the talent level of the tournament in Oberhausen.
But that does not essentially mean negative news for the MMA enthusiasts seeks to play the UFC 122 probabilities. Whilst these competitors might not be quite well-known and never amount to much on the UFC fighting scene, their comparative anonymity presents a lot of wagering possibility for the smart enthusiasts inclined to do a little homework and find out a bit more about these mysterious competitors.
Take for example Pascal Krauss, a German welterweight who’s planned to match Englishman Mark Scanlon on the Preliminary card. He’s 6’1″, 170 lbs and he’s never lost an MMA competition in his life. He’s got a perfect 9-0 record in MMA competition, 7 of the wins by submission. He might be next huge point in UFC!
Why not consider Karlos Vemola, the Czech contender nicknamed the “Terminator” with a 7-1 record, who will be seeking to wipe the mat with American Seth Petruzelli in the light heavyweight division.
There’s lots of comparatively mysterious talent out there just waiting to be discovered and bet on by MMA enthusiasts in the forthcoming UFC 122 Main Event.
